Holiday Inn Express Mesa Verde-Cortez, an IHG hotel
Cozy!

Candice, I hope I spelled it correctly, provided outstanding service to my family and I during our visit on September 4th! Someone gives this young woman a promotion!

The room was decent sized and clean
The room had a fridge and microwave and a big TV
the AC worked well and wasn't too loud
The sliding glass door had a broken lock, but only spiderman could climb up there so I guess not a big deal.
The bath was decent size and clean
The shower was somewhat hard to get a constant temp. not sure if diverter was broken or what.
The bed was somewhat old and the mattress was a bit saggy in the middle.
There were outlets on both sides of bed
they had a gym but it was across the parking lot. it was actually pretty decent with free weights and a few machines.
They had a pool which I didnt use
Sleep quality was good
Breakfast was good
Overall a slightly worn but mostly comfortable holiday Inn

Poor sound insulation between floors

I woke in the middle of the night thinking someone was creeping about our room and then it sounded as if someone was taking a shower in our bathroom! Sound seemed to radiate down the walls and into the room. Then when upstairs was leaving early, the sound of them walking across floor was very loud. Otherwise, a pretty standard HIE.
IHG member but I am not sure this place is up to their standards.

The staff was very accommodating when I told them I did not feel safe near outside door and upgraded us to a pleasant room. Thank you. Breakfast was not very good. Eggs burnt. Oatmeal not there in the early breakfast times. Just not good.
Convenient and homey

We stayed in the family room with bunk beds for kids, which was a great family option. Our kids were surprised to find a video game console in their room.
The laundry and the gym were in a separate building, which was slightly inconvenient.
The hotel is about 10 minutes from the Mesa Verde entrance. We went on a cliff dwelling tour. To get to the actual site, you need to plan on about an hour's drive from the hotel since the road through the park is steep, long, and windy.
