Very nice Lodge which sits alone on a 50 mile stretch of high altitude National Forest (and meadow) on the Kaibab plateau about 18 miles north of the north rim of the Grand canyon. Very nice log main building with comfy large fireplace where the breakfast and dinner buffets (not included) are served. Our duplex cabin #8 was great. Good shower and beds and wonderful natural meadow view. Very good staff. Melissa, Beth and Kevin were particularly nice. They always took the time to listen to, and to address our concerns. They made our trip extra nice! Wonderful 4-night stay late October.

A great experience in every way. This is my 3rd stay at the Kaibab Lodge (1st one with the reservation in my name). Clean, well maintained cabin. Supper buffet was excellent as always. Very relaxing atmosphere in the main lodge with the fireplace, bar, dining room, comfortable seating, big screen TV, and internet access.

We feel like the Kaibab Lodge was overpriced for the value received. We were assigned a very dated cabin #8. The wall heater did not work when we checked in. The first maintenance guy said 'it wasn't cold enough to kick in'. After an hour, we asked for another maintenance guy who eventually, after cleaning debris out of it, was able to get it working. There was no mini fridge or microwave to make our dinner or breakfast. The meals served in the lodge were out of our price range at $39.95 per person for dinner and $17.95 per person for breakfast. The mattress needed to be replaced. It was very lumpy and uncomfortable. The blinds had broken slats. In the morning, we found traces of mice. All this, for nearly $300 per night with tax. We had asked to be moved to a newer cabin but could not be accommodated. We were shocked at the state of dis-repair. We felt the Kaibab Lodge was a huge rip-off for the price.

Great stop for long day hikers!

We came to hike R2R. It had snowed 9 in the day before. Our service from the front desk/ bartender was excellent. They have last minute items for sale like trail snacks and candy, water and other essentials. Buffet dinner was excellent. Lots of choices. The owner, Larry, made us a to-go bacon egg and cheese croissant at 0350 AM. He drove us himself to the trailhead. Perfect service. They know what hikers need and they provide. This is a place for long day hikers, either going or coming, Chuck Harris

A great stay

It was a very comfortable room on the first floor of a unit, not a cabin. Very clean, beds were comfy. The only issue was that the people upstairs woke us up at 2:30 AM and again at 4:30 AM walking around like elephants! The floors are not carpeted so sound carries. Of course the managent can't control this, but if you are a light sleeper (or regular!) you might want ear plugs. The walls were plenty sound proof. Maybe we just had bad luck. Overall, the service was super friendly and the food was great. I would stay here again!
