The El Portal Motel is located in the quaint town of Beatty, Nevada just a few miles from the eastern entrance to Death Valley National Park.
The El Portal Motel is a family style motel with twenty-five individual guestrooms. Nineteen of the guestrooms offer modern, spacious accommodations with one or two queen sized beds.
The other six rooms carry the historical charm of the forties – the era when they were originally constructed. These unique rooms are very much a part of Beatty’s history when auto courts were the style and they still retain the flavor of that period. These rooms have standard double beds, a private bath, with bathtub/shower, cable TV, fridge and microwave. Smoke free rooms are available but tend to book up quickly.

There are several ghost towns in the area and other western relics which provide a fascinating glimpse into the areas historic past when the area was a bustling with mining activity. Rhyolite is one of the more popular of the small ghost town in the area and is located just a few miles west of Beatty. Once home to over 10,000 hopeful miners, Rhyolite was at one time the busiest mining town in southern Nevada.
Bailey's Hot Mineral Spring, a ten minute drive north of town, is a restful and therapeutic experience well worth the drive.
The location of El Portal Motel puts you away from the most heavy traffic which allows for quiet and restful nights. Gift and antique shops, restaurants, a steak house, a bakery, an old-fashioned ice cream parlor, and gaming opportunities are all within walking distance of the motel.
Rates are very reasonable starting at just $60. Senior citizens get a 10% discount.
