A stay at the Amargosa Opera House and Hotel is an experience unlike any you have had in the past.
In the mid twenties, the Pacific Coast Borax Company built an entire mini-town to house their company and employees. This mini-town was named “Corkhill Hall” at the time, and was built with a Spanish Colonial Style motif made up of several adobe buildings. The original town consisted of the company offices, a store, a dormitory, a twenty three room hotel, dining room, lobby and an employee headquarters. In addition, there was a recreation hall built at the far northeast end of town which was used as a meeting spot for community dances, church services, movies, funerals and other town functions.

Some forty years later, a woman by the name of Marta Becket discovered the then nearly abandoned ‘mini-town’ and turned it into a destination hotel and entertainment venue in the heart of the Death Valley.
Since taking possession of the Amargosa Hotel and Opera House, Marta has invested much of herself into the property. She has spent the last forty years decorating and ‘dressing up’ the property… painting personal murals on the walls of the hotel and Opera house.

Several of the guest rooms have murals painted on the walls where cherubs and peacocks and angels frolic.

In room 22, a ballerina dances on a ball, and clowns and acrobats perform as a special dedication to RED SKELTON, who was a guest in this room on four occasions.
